It has been a crazy couple of years both at work and as the kids continue to grow up. It is so clichéd but time really does go too quick.

The bed project for my son was completed a long time ago, but I never uploaded any photos or added any posts about it.

The bed is holding up well – even with the jumping and abuse that the kids throw at it… that being said something I heard recently has really resonated with me.. it was a quote from the unknown craftsman that discussed the difference between the arts and craft.

Hopefully I get the quote correct… I think it was;

“…people hang their pictures high up on their walls, but they place their objects for everyday use close to them and take them in their hands.”

– Soetsu Yanagi

This resonated with me, not only in regards to the bed, but everything that I’ve been trying to make in the shed. It doesn’t matter if my work is not perfect as I try to learn the craft of woodworking, what is important and beautiful is that the objects are used and touched and enjoyed despite any imperfections.

Anyway, the bed is going great and I need to make one soon for my daughter. I’ll try and add some more posts for some of the projects I’ve done or been working on since my last post back in 2016!
